The connection is that since Roe v Wade enabled abortion, the number of American children who were not born is roughly equivalent to the number of immigrants, legal or illegal, who now live in the United States. How else will there be enough wage earners to pay for Boomers’ Social Security and Medicare? GUN FACTS Liberal statements about guns and children follow the usual pattern of liberal lying; to wit: MYTH: In America, 5 children a day, 1825 per year, are killed by guns, specifically by accidents and suicides. FACT: According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), in 2000, there were 86 accidental deaths and 110 suicides by guns in persons 14 years old or younger. Add homicide and all other causes and the number rises to 435. Just a 300% error. FACT: In the same time period and in the same age group, there were 943 accidental drownings, 593 deaths from accidental smoke/fire and 2,591 vehicular deaths. QUESTION: Should we ban children swimming, swimming pools or children riding in cars? If not, why ban guns? Guns appear to be safer than cars or swimming. At least, that’s what the FACTS say, and not what the hysterical liars say. FACT: Did you know that the Department of Justice said that Americans used guns for defensive purposes 1.5 MILLION times in 2001? Do you know why you didn’t know that? Because the gun control nuts and their media accomplices don’t want you to know. It fails to comport with their agenda. They want to gut the 2nd Amendment. O CANADA Canada is my favorite socialist country. Despite its leftist bent, Canada’s bureaucrats manage to copy some of capitalist Washington’s ideas; the wrong ones as it turns out. One of them has been gun registration et al. The National Post, a leading Canadian newspaper, recently called for an end to gun “control” as the Toronto murder numbers ratcheted upwards. The paper declared: “At best, the registry is useless.” It further reported that Canada expects to spend eight times more money on registering duck hunter’s shotguns than on counter-terrorism. THE LYING PROFESSOR & HIS MEDIA ACCOMPLICES Ever hear of Professor Michael Bellesiles? (Emory University) Recently, he wrote an anti-gun book praised effusively by the New York Times and its claque of sycophants. Bellesiles said, among many other things, that in Colonial America people did not have muskets and such. He used as proof his study of old wills and estate documents. Similar assertions about guns were similarly supported by his “research”. Guess what. Some people doubted what he wrote. They checked. Bellesiles has now resigned from Emory in disgrace following an investigation by the University. Want to read about it in the New York Times? You can’t. They forgot to print it. So did most , if not all, major media outlets. You would have heard of the study on the Big 3 network news shows but, again, you would have missed the truth. None of them gave it any air time. That, of course, is a habit. IS EXPERIENCE MANDATORY? CAREFUL NOW Have you noticed that politicos of a certain persuasion (Kerry; McCain) keep harping that their combat experience qualifies them to opine about war with Iraq but those sans such experience (Bush, Cheney) have no business making such decisions? Of course, neither Lincoln nor FDR had any combat or even military experience. But let’s allow their principle to stand. By that logic, only those people who pay income taxes have any right to establish tax rates and how the tax take is to be spent. Think a socialist like Kerry would agree with that consistent logic? WHY ASIANS DO WELL IN SCHOOL I. This is a story told by John Derbyshire, a writer. He and his wife, who is Chinese, were at their son’s grade school for a function. Another student’s Mother, also from mainland China, was there though not for the function, as her son was home sick. Mom was there to pick up her son’s homework assignments for him to complete while recovering. II. In China, if you flunk the high school admission test (Yes; high school), and if you still want to go to high school, you must pay for tuition. How much? About one year’s gross income of both working parents. Do the parents do it? Most of them and nobody knows what they indenture to raise the money. There is no student loan program. |
