THANKS FOR YOUR GOOD WISHES Many of you have emailed me about my Christmas Eve surgery wishing me well and a speedy recovery. I thank you all for that kindness and I appreciate it. And, as Mark Twain (?) said: Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated. TRENT WENT; DEMS VENT Trent Lott and his fellow Republicans took the advice we gave in our December 9th Winners & Sinners column, returning Lott to being a Senate backbencher. Democrats, now filled with forgiveness, fume that the Republicans were less than compassionate conservatives and that Lott deserved another chance. What they mean is another opportunity for the Dems to have Trent to kick around in the run-up to the 2004 elections. If the GOP is really smart, in ‘04, it should run another person, preferably black, to replace Lott as a Senator and give Lott some sinecure, say an ambassadorship to some African country, where he can show his recent bona fides were the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. ALBERT R. HUNT, SPINDOCTOR Do you know Al Hunt? He writes a from the far left column each week for the Wall Street Journal; you may know him from Capital Gang; he’s the one that needs the haircut, a visible remnant of his ‘60s self. His December 26th column is a kind of obituary on various personages who died in 2002. He mentions Paul Wellstone, Tim Pawlenty (not deceased, but quoted), Dean Barkley who replaced Wellstone, Wilbur Mills former famous congressman and Herman Talmadge , the former governor and senator from Georgia, whom Hunt describes as: “a vicious segregationist” who later moderated his views. Each of the first four men is correctly described as to his party. Talmadge, the vicious segregationist is not. It’s not an oversight, my friends. It’s a habit. ANCHOR BABIES & PARACHUTE BABIES Did you know that the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states: “ ...all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States.” I guaranty that every Mexican and Central American does. Some of you in the hinterlands or in foreign countries may never have heard the term “anchor babies”. I guaranty you that every Mexican and Central American knows that phrase too. Often, too often, pregnant illegal females sneak into America just to have their child. They then can claim their child is an American citizen; that they are entitled to various welfare benefits and, at age 21, the child may begin the process of “family reunification” under the present rule 245(I) bringing an endless stream of relatives to the Promised Land. Many are now beginning to question the easy application of the 14th Amendment. Read it again: it states “and subject to”. That’s conjunctive, meaning both phrases musts be read together as opposed to disjunctive, where each phrase may be read independently. There is a strong legal argument against anchor babies falling under the jurisdiction of the United States. More to come. Meanwhile, “Parachute Babies” is the newest wrinkle in the way foreigners illegally work our laws, game our system if you will, for more freebies paid for by tax suckers like you and me. Usually this one is played by the Asian hustlers. They arrange to have their child come to the U.S. for education in some private school, paid for by the child’s parents. Soon afterwards, the child drops out of the private school and re-enrolls in the local public school paid for by Guess Who? Not only that, but the kid’s parents don’t even live here so they pay nothing towards their child’s education. Tired of this stuff? Then there are two, and only two things to do. Write your congressional delegation; each of them. Then vote for those who do it your way. SHAMEFUL STATISTICS Homicide is the No. 1 cause of death for black males between 15 and 24 years of age. Homicide is the No. 2 cause of death for black females between 15 and 24 years of age. Black Americans are six times more likely to be victims of homicide than white Americans. A BETTER STATISTIC Between 19776 and 1999, 94% of all black American homicide victims were killed by other black Americans. GOP BENEFITS FROM FAT CATS; DEMS PARTY OF LITTLE GUY Sorry, but that’s another myth; here’s the story based on the 2002 election cycle donors:
